Forms of manual therapy

Massages
An empathetic massage is first and foremost a good way of establishing a relationship of trust with the dog, which is important for all subsequent therapeutic measures.
Through various grip techniques, the massage causes an increase in circulation and temperature increase in the tissue. As a result, pain-causing substances are washed out of the affected tissue. By the manual action muscle tension and adhesions can be eliminated. All this leads to pain relief and thus to greater well-being of the patient.
Furthermore, a relaxing massage has a calming effect, which makes it also very suitable for anxious or nervous dogs.
Manual therapy
This form of therapy is specifically concerned with joint problems.
Certain grip techniques mobilize the affected joint and the surrounding structures. The formation of synovial fluid is stimulated and the metabolism increased.
The goal is to relieve pain, improve joint mobility, and restore normal joint function.
Strains
Muscle distension is performed when joint mobility is limited by shortened musclesBut also as prophylaxis, they are important, for example in dog sports in the "warm up" and "cool down".
Lymphatic drainage
This is a very gentle and relaxing treatment. Using certain grip techniques, the lymphatic vessels are stimulated, the lymphatic uptake is improved and the formation of new lymphatic vessels is stimulated.
The lymphatic drainage is mainly used for edema and serves to flush out the fluid accumulated in the tissue. The pressure in the tissue is reduced, leading to a loosening of the tissue and pain relief.
Lymphedema can arise, for example, after accidents or operations, but also through inactivity and paralysis. In rare occasions you can have an innate lymphedema.
Scar treatment
Scars are composed of inelastic tissue and often present a disruptive factor in the body. Especially large scars and scars near the joints can cause painful movement restrictions.
Scar treatment can help to keep the tissue elastic and prevent disability.
